The Jefferson County Road centerline dataset began to be compiled in the early 2000s. It was originally gathered using a GPS reciever, resulting in multiple unnecessary vertices, which have since been removed. Polylinear centerlines along curved roads have been replaced with true arcs to reflect a smoother and more accurate dataset. Spatial accuracy of lines are constantly being refined using on screen digitization and the latest and/or highest accuracy aereal photography. This dataset tries to capture navigable roads, whether public or private.
